Planet Polaris 2.0: Building beyond the website
Over the past months, something has been quietly changing at Planet Polaris.
We are still designing websites, developing visual identities and helping hospitality brands communicate more effectively. But increasingly, the website is no longer the final destination. It has become the foundation for a much broader digital ecosystem.
From websites to useful digital tools
For Hotel Marivaux in Brussels, we combined a new visual identity and website with practical web applications for both guests and meeting organisers.
The Meetings & Events Concierge gives organisers direct access to the information they need when planning or managing an event. A separate Guest Directory provides hotel guests with essential information in a clear, mobile-friendly format.
For Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, we created a Restaurant Recommendations App that helps guests discover restaurants based on cuisine, preferences and location. It can be opened instantly through a QR code, without requiring an installation.
At Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, we transformed a children’s hotel quest inspired by Le Petit Prince into an interactive multilingual experience. Children move through the hotel, solve puzzles, play musical challenges and scan QR codes to unlock the next stage of their journey.
Different hotels, different audiences, different experiences. But the underlying idea is the same: technology should make things simpler, more useful and more memorable.
Developing our own hospitality technology
Behind the scenes, we have also been building a growing collection of proprietary tools.
These include website security and performance audits, privacy and consent solutions, SEO and GEO tools, content management improvements, guest applications and a new Hotel Monitor platform.
The Hotel Monitor brings together information that is often scattered across different systems. It analyses areas such as website performance, the booking journey, online visibility, OTA presence, reviews, security, competitor positioning and potential revenue leaks.
The aim is not to produce more data for the sake of data. It is to turn signals into understandable priorities and practical next steps.
Design remains our starting point
This evolution does not mean leaving our origins behind. Quite the opposite.
Graphic design, aesthetics, typography, photography, language and storytelling remain at the heart of everything we create. They have shaped Planet Polaris since the beginning and continue to provide the foundation for our digital work.
We believe that technology only becomes valuable when it is well designed, understandable and consistent with the identity of the organisation using it.
Our work is not exclusively digital either. Visual identities, brochures, publications, campaign materials, signage and other forms of printed and analogue communication remain an important part of our core business.
Digital and analogue are not separate worlds. They are different expressions of the same brand, and both deserve the same level of care, creativity and precision.
A natural evolution
Planet Polaris was founded in 1999. Over more than 25 years, we have seen graphic design, communication and websites evolve into increasingly connected experiences.
Our own role is evolving with them.
We are becoming more than a traditional design and website agency. Today, we combine our established creative foundations with three additional layers:
- Infrastructure you can trust
- Toolboxes your teams can actually use
- Audits that keep technology and partners accountable
Planet Polaris 2.0 does not replace what came before. It builds upon it.
We still begin with identity, aesthetics, content and design. We now connect those disciplines with applications, automation, monitoring and practical digital infrastructure.
That is what we mean by Planet Polaris 2.0.
Not technology for its own sake, but thoughtful design and useful technology working together to solve real problems for hotels, organisations, their teams and their guests.
And we are only getting started.
